What if? Serious Scientific answers to absurd hypothetical questions - Randall MunroeRandall Munroe ist nicht nur der Autor des grandios-komischen (wissenschaftlichen) Webcomics www.xkcd.com (wer das nicht kennt, schwer zu empfehlen), er hat auch einen Blog namens "What if?". In diesem beantwortet er jede Woche eine abstruse Frage mit echten Berechnungen. und viel Witz. Zirka 60 davon sind jetzt als Buchform herausgekommen. Die bösen, bösen Zeilen mit langen Formeln, Variablen, Brüchen etc. kann man getrost überlesen, ich versteh sie nichtmal alle. Die Illustrationen und Comics dazwischen sind aber super und die Erklärung erschließt sich auch aus dem Text, selbst wenn man nicht nachrechnen kann.
Einige meiner Lieblingsfragen (ich hab die englische Ausgabe):
- What would happen if the earth suddenly stopped spinning (siehe Post-Titel)
-What if everyone actually had just one soul mate
- What would happen if you gather a mole (unit) of moles (critters)
- From what height would you need to drop a steak for it to be cooked upon landing
- If you call a random person and say "god bless you" what are the chances they just sneezed
- How much force power can yoda output (answer: 19kW, switching to yoda power wouldn't be worth it, though it would definatly be green)
